Online collaborative writing in an online EFL writing class

Most learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) consider writing challenging task, and they experience difficulties such organizing thoughts, selecting relevant words to represent their views, producing rhetorical patterns specific the target culture. Research into L2 suggests that collaboration in classroom can assist students set goals, generate ideas, write edit, reflect on task. The effects online classes, however, remain unknown. This quasi-experimental study aims examine effect collaborative (OCW) an EFL class students’ performance terms syntactic complexity, lexical fluency. A four-week OCW intervention was carried out with 26 university enrolled course at A2 level Common European Framework Reference for Languages (CEFR). Data were collected using tasks administered pre- post-tests. Fluency, complexity measured analyzed across tasks. results showed improved fluency writings proficiency but had no complexity. Based findings, it is possible conclude be employed promote classes.
